Springsteen and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler chat about…stuff.

When I first heard that they rocked out a few tracks together on-stage at Springsteen’s recent concert in Ottawa, I remember marveling at the sheer ‘coolness’ of it.
How cool is this - Arcade Fire join their legend The Boss on stage for his State Trooper and their Keep the Car Running.
Man…without doubt in my top […]

Check them out: MGMT

Surf/Jungle/Country
I would say more along the lines of psychedelic-electronic-pop-friendly-punk…but their description sounds much cooler.
MGMT (pronounced ‘Management’) is a quirky, ambitious, progressive duo that are on the cusp.  Their segment is a tough one to crack, but MGMT are finding a way to get noticed - they’ve been ‘artist of the day’ in SPIN Magazine and […]

Les Savy Fav

Alright, so who is this band Les Savy Fav?
The art rock/indie rock/experimental rock quartet has developed a steady following in New York.
The band is known for abrasive guitar and strange but cool bass melodies.  Lead singer Tim Harrington’s lyrics are often insightful, sometimes poetic, but always worth really listening to.  The band has a few […]

100 songs that you love that make you respect yourself a little less

Musical Guilty Pleasures…
A guilty pleasure is a song or a band you would listen to, but sure as hell wouldn’t wear the t-shirt in public….or tell your friends for that matter.
You’ll listen to the song and belt it out when driving on the highway, but never in the city with your window down.
b5media’s […]

Here are the Guilty Pleasures of the writers at Big Apple Music Scene.
(Yes, we know that some of these artists […]

Big Apple Music Scene defends Radiohead against Lily Allen logic.

Lily Allen is against Radiohead and they’re latest approach to selling records. She’s very against it.
Here’s a quote from Lily Allen on Radiohead (after calling them arrogant),
“They’ve got millions of pounds. It sends a weird message to younger bands who haven’t done as well,” Allen reasoned. “You don’t choose how to pay for eggs. […]

Is Radiohead’s online release a viable business model?

The official compact disc release of Radiohead’s ‘Rainbows’ album is January 3rd.
It will be very interesting to see how the album fairs in traditional outlets, considering fans have had months to be able to get it for their set price - roughly 62% set their price at free, while roughly 38% paid an average of […]
