Jay Z’s American Gangster sitting at # 1

Hello Brooklyn….
Billboard.com has Jay Z’s American Gangster at number one in the Billboard 200 for records with the greatest airplay.
The new album, American Gangster, is Jay Z’s 10th number 1 album - selling 425,000 copies in it’s first week.  Only the Beatles have more number 1 albums…pretty crazy.
The album is Jay Z’s first concept album […]

Dave Matthews plays today

It’s not everyday that Dave Matthews is in the New York area.
Today he is.
Dave will be putting on a trance-like show tonight at the Continental Airlines Arena in the outskirts.
If you haven’t seen Dave live, you have to. If you have, you’re probably making up about 40% of the crowd tonight.
Well, here’s a primer…

Video: The National - Mistaken for Strangers

I like the rawness of the video Mistaken for Strangers by The National.
The Brooklyn New York band continues to do things they’re own way.

Springsteen Rocks the Garden

Every month Rolling Stone magazine profiles a few key shows.
Sometimes I think they are truly special shows and other times I think they just say, “Yeah, Arcade Fire in Austin was probably cool, let’s profile it and get some quotes.”
I’ve become a bit jaded with RS the last few years, but still go back to […]

New York welcomes The Cult

Big night tonight.  The Cult will take over the Hammerstein Ballroom.
As they say, The Cult (and this show) is for Rockers, Ravers, Lovers and Sinners.
Band members Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, Chris Wyse, John Tempesta and Mike Dimkich will add to the history of the Hammerstein with a no doubt killer show.
On October 2nd of […]

Jimmy Eat World at Terminal 5

Jimmy Eat World is back in town to play Terminal 5 tomorrow night.  The Arizona based band is promoting their newest album Chase This Light…some nice big riffs and catchy melodies as evident in their single Big Casino.
After NY, the band is off to play The Electric Factory in Philadelphia the next night and Sonar […]
