June 8, 2009 by Devorah Klein
Usually Monday is that blah day that you hate. But for some reason tonight (Monday June
is packed with awesome music-related activities. So cheer up and gear up to go out tonight! Here are your awesome choices:
- Celebrate Brooklyn’s inaugural concert this summer is David Byrne. He plays at the Prospect Park bandshell at 8 pm, doors open at 6:30 pm. I suggest getting there early to grab a good spot. Oh, and of course it’s free!
- MoMA’s Poprally has a new program, Mondays at the MoMA with music sets outside in the sculpture garden and inside the museum and access to certain exhibits and movies. It’s $20 but you could get in for half price if you sign up for the mailing list and bring a copy of the email. And, the first 600 ticket buyers after 5:30 pm will get a free ticket to return to the museum. This week’s band is Stars Like Fleas.
- African musicians Amadou & Mariam have made their way from Mali to play a show at Webster Hall tonight. You can get tickets here.
- The Hold Steady is at Bowery Ballroom tonight with Right on Dynamite. Tickets here.
- One of the best guitarists around, James Blackshaw is at Issue Project Room (232 3rd St. in Brooklyn) with Koen Holtkamp (from Mountains). Tickets are available here.
- Hip-hopper Busdriver is playing at the Mercury Lounge tonight. Tickets here.
See, I told you there was a lot gong on tonight! Choose wisely…
