Company of Thieves arrive in New York
First trips to New York are without question a trip.
The city is overwhelming and comforting. It is dark, yet blinding with opportunities. And musically, it beckons you in with it’s vibrant and expansive scene.
Company of Thieves, welcome to New York!

Hailing from Chicago IL, Company of Thieves are a solid organic rock indie output that are riding into New York to play some big time gigs. This trip will no doubt be a band milestone on the journey to propelled success and breakout performances.
This is a solid band and they have got to be already fired up to play the Mercury Lounge. Playing on the same stage as The Strokes, Lou Reed and Jeff Buckley. That stage has supported some of the best. Again….Welcome to New York.

Key tracks …
Oscar Wild - starts out with a bit of Rolling Stones swagger riff, bu then the vocals give it a powerful and memorizing confidence. When I first heard this track, all I kept thinking was, “imagine if Nico had recorded with the Stones”, although Genevieve’s vocals sound more confident, but that may be because of the superb song writing.
I really dig Under the Umbrella because it sounds like a polished version of a ‘the best of the night’ free-styling jam session with friends. Then, I read on their site,
“(they) starting a weekly Monday Music Night with fellow artists/musicians at Marc’s studio apartment for a fix. Dorian Duffy, a coast dweller from Rhode Island who came to Chicago on a gamble hoping to expand his musical horizons was often in attendance, clad with a an open mind and smooth, down-home style of bass playing.”
Try to catch this rising band at Mercury on Wednesday if you can. They’re playing the early show with Jim Krewson - folksy stoner acoustic…
