Kanye Crashed Kid Sister Show
So there I was, freezing my ass off as I waited in line to get into the planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the Museum of Natural History on Friday night to see Cool Kids, Kid Sister, and A-Trak who were performing as part of One Step Beyond, a monthly event organized by Flavorpill.
“Maybe Kanye West will show up,” my friend joked, referring to his part in the Kid Sister song “Pro Nails.”
We all had a good laugh and then finally made it inside, where lines galore waited for us. Luckily, we already had our tickets so we didn’t have to wait in the gigantic will-call line. The organization was awful. I guess these museum people weren’t used to the crowds.
Cool Kids’ set was fun, although my friends and I seemed to be the only ones dancing. Then Kid Sister came on, looking amazing even though she had bronchitis, and sounded great too. For her last song she played “Pro Nails” and wouldn’t you know it, out waltzed Kanye West in a big ass fur coat!
The crowd obviously went nuts, including myself. This was his first appearance in the U.S. since his mother, Donda West, passed away. After “Pro Nails” he launched into 5 or 6 of his own tracks, including “Good Life,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and my personal favorite “Stronger.” It was amazing to see him in such a small place and it almost felt like he was partying with us.
Thanks to my friend Lindsay for the pictures, although we could only get one of the back of Kanye’s head…but I swear, that’s him!
And here’s Kid Sister:
And here’s a better picture, thanks to brooklynvegan:
