Discovering new music and discovering bands is very different than it was three to four years ago. Magazine’s have lost their edge due to their lack of punctuality when it comes to discovering new music. Music discovery online is a bottomless pit incredible music you’ll never find.
This however is a great place to start. These are results for New York - so the top bands from New York on Myspace…at the moment. Very interesting site. Weekly updates from this snap shot are a must going forward. Here’s what’s smart, they break it down into Unsigned, Indie and Major (label).
Ryan Adams is number 2 in the Indie category…I love that.
The National is number four in the same category…a great band with a great album. This is huge for them. Huge.
Fischerspooner is number 1 in the Unsigned category…very surprised.
Search the site, listen to new music and pick up albums of what you like. The online world gives us more reason to buy great albums.
