Highline Ballroom is giving a free screening of the movie Once, featuring Glen Hansard of the Irish band the Frames and Czech singer Market Irglova, and much of their music, this Saturday, July 19. Doors are at 7 p.m., movie starts at 8 p.m. The movie is excellent, I highly recommend it.

Ambient and electronic genius Fennesz teams up with elegant pianist Sakamoto for the U.S. premier of their 1997 album Cendre. It’s at the World Financial Center Winter Garden at 8 p.m. and it’s free. If you don’t go the Philharmonic in Central Park you should definitely check this out.

The New York Philharmonic will be playing for free tonight in Prospect Park and tomorrow night in Central Park on the Great Lawn. They start at 8 p.m. but I would get there early to get a good spot. Perfect summer evening…unless it’s raining!

Yesterday was a beautiful day at McCarren Park Pool for one of JellyNYC’s Pool Parties. Matt & Kim were awesome and enthusiastic as always, bringing out Rude Mechanical Orchestra to play with them on their last few songs, ending with “Yea Yeah.”
