Pete Yorn is busy. He has a new CD, Back and Fourth, and is therefore going on tour. Tickets to his Webster Hall shows on July 28 and 29 are still on sale, and tickets will go on sale this Friday for a recently added July 24 show at The Wellmont Theater, but if you want to see him at a more initimate venue, now is your chance. He is playing the Apple Store in Soho TONIGHT at 7 pm (June 16) for free and is having a CD release party at Joe’s Pub on Thursday, June 18 at 11:30 pm. Presale tickets sold out to his fan club, but at  4 pm today, you can get the remaining tickets on the Joe’s Pub website.

If you haven’t heard of them yet, get ready to be wowed. Amadou & Mariam is a blind couple from Mali whose recent albums have been produced by none other than Manu Chao. They perform super fun and beautiful songs with African rhythms that make you want to shake your booty. Their new album Welcome to Mali has been released in other countries to critical acclaim, but comes out in the US on March 24.

They will be at Webster Hall on June 8. Tickets are on sale now. Get some!!

While globalFEST 2009 will go on as planned, Femi Kuti had to cancel that appearance, and his entire tour due to illness. Get Well Soon Femi! He hopes to go on a Canadian and U.S. tour this summer in support of his new album, Day by Day.

If you haven’t heard of Glasvegas, the hottest band to come out of Scotland in a while, then read this post carefully! Their debut, self-titled album is being released January 6 in the U.S. But, the band has also just recorded a 6-song Christmas EP, A Snow Flake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss), which you can now get for free with a pre-order of the album!

CSS Tonight and After-Party DJ Set

Brazilian group that is oh so much, CSS, will be in NY tonight. First they will play a live show at Webster Hall, which still has tickets available and then they will DJ the after party at The Studio at Webster Hall, which you can check out for just $5 with an RSVP. How fantastic!

Morrissey and Tindersticks Both Playing NYC

No, not together. But still, exciting news nonetheless. Morrissey will release Years of Refusal on February 17 and then head out on tour, bringing him to NY/NJ to play a host of shows. First he will be at the Wellmont Theater in NJ on March 16. Then he will be at the Bowery Ballroom (!!) on March 21, at Webster Hall March 25, and at Carnegie Hall on March 26. Phew! Tickets for these shows are not on sale yet, but “Fans can pre-order Years of Refusal and get the opportunity to buy tickets through Ticketmaster 24 hours before they go on sale to the general public.” Complete tour dates below.

Also coming to the US, for the first time in over five years, are Tindersticks, led by the inimitable Stuart Staples. They released a new album, The Hungry Saw, this year and will now be going on tour. They will be at Brooklyn Masonic Temple on March 6 and tickets are on sale now. See complete tour dates below.
