Venue Review: Bowery Ballroom

Located at 6 Delancey Street in the southern borough of Manhattan is The Bowery Ballroom. The structure was built just before the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and stood vacant until the end of WWII, when it became a high-end retail store.
It wasn’t until 1997 that it was converted into a music venue. The venue is right on the J line of the New York City subway, so although a bit of a pain to get to…it’s accessible.
The Bowery Ballroom is a critics pick year after year for one of New York’s best venues to see a gig. One of the primary reasons it’s so popular, apart from superior sightlines and sound, is the darkly swank, well-stocked bar.
Never been to the Bowery? They have a great line-up in December including Patti Smith, the White Rabbits and the Slackers.
