Virgin Megastore Leaving Union Square?

According to the New York Sun and Billboard, the Virgin Megastore in Union Square is being offered for availability in 2009 by real estate broker Winick Realty. The two-story, 58,000 sq. ft. space is being offered in total. It is unclear whether Virgin will move the store to another location or close it permanently. No word either on any changes with the Times Square location. First Tower Records, now Virgin? Let’s just hope that all the indepenents like Other Music and Kim’s stay open–and benefit!
